Édouard Glissant's theses and philosophy on opacity and the trauma of the slave trade across the oceans formed the foundation and inspiration for the second wave of Detroit Techno.

In deep appreciation for Drexciya, and following their afrofuturistic-dystopian approach, BLACK SEA lets the recipients dive into the shallows of the oceans.

Using generative video and sound synthesis, the installation evolves endlessly in constant turbulence.

The work is accompanied sonically by a eurorack synthesizer, which audioreactively influences and transforms the video level. The sound can be heard as an audio stream via QR code on mobile devices.

Due to racist and particularly BIPoC-hostile reporting on alleged clan criminality, BLACK SEA was deliberately exhibited at Cologne's Ebertplatz.
